Researchers have been led to believe that women of a later age are more at risk for dying due to unhealthy gums and teeth. In a study of over 50,000 healthy women during the 90’s in which many factors that could effect the outcome were controlled, researchers found that women who did not have teeth and that also had periodontal disease were at a higher risk. Overall, it is encouraged that older women participate in an oral health screening as a part of their regular medical testing.
